Aaron Bibik, a senior at Clarenceville HS, participated in the MHSAA Division 3 Individual Wrestling Finals this weekend and finished in 5th place in the 160 pound weight class. He was honored on the platform with the other top 8 placers. The last time Clarenceville had a wrestler place at the state finals was 2000.
(Coaches comments) Individual wrestling state finals were Thursday, Friday, Saturday over the weekend and the Clarenceville Wrestling Trojans had one wrestler qualify for the tournament, Aaron Bibik at the weight class of 160. Aaron advanced to the State tournament by placing second at individual regionals two weeks ago. On thursday Aaron had one match and won against Forest Courtright of Shelby by pinning him in the third period. His next match was Friday afternoon against Skylar Ley from Caro, Aaron lost this match by getting pinned in the first period. Aaron also had a second match later Friday afternoon and won a 7-2 decision over Bodie Austin from Williamston high school. This win sent Aaron to Saturdays championship placing round where he won his first match of the morning against Zane Perrin from Durand by pinning him in the final seconds of the second period. Aaron moved on the consilation semi finals and lost a hard fought match to Dundee’s Todd Olsen by major decision 13-0. This match dropped Aaron to the fifth place match where he dominated his opponent Tristen Zienklewicz from Farwell 8-0 major decision and winning fifth place in the state. Aaron went 50-10 for the season.
