Game Recap

TAYLOR KENNEDY BEATS CLARENCEVILLE IN SEASON FINALE 3-2. The Trojans once again for the 2nd day in a row pitched and played defense well enough to win. Nick Shute, Kam MacIver, Austin Portwood, and Zack Richards gave up only 3 runs and scattered 6 hits. Austin Portwood got out of 2 bases loaded no out jams in 2 consecutive innings to keep Clarenceville in the game. “We walked 7 guys but found a way to get out of jams”, said Head Coach Craig Cotter. Kennedy did not help their cause with several base running mistakes. The Trojans cut the lead to 1 by scoring 2 runs in the 5th. With bases loaded and no outs Nick Snage got hit by a pitch and Kam MacIver laid down a great sacrifice bunt. The Trojans did not threaten after that. “Our plate approach was good until the 5th, when Kennedy brought in the hard throwing sidewinder.” Said Cotter, “we looked lost at the plate the rest of the game”. The Trojans finish the season 12-11, also winning their division for the first time in 35 years. They now host districts on Saturday June 3, in a semi final game at 10:00am vs Detroit Mumford.
