Volleyball:

4. Class C top-ranked Bronson is plenty familiar with tonight’s Quarterfinal opponent, No. 2 Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central – Sturgis Journal

5. Class B No. 4 Niles is hoping to add to its first District and Regional titles with a first Quarterfinal win, over No. 3 Lake Odessa Lakewood – Niles Daily Star

6. Class A No. 3 Grand Rapids Christian downed top-ranked Rockford in the Regional, a big step as the Eagles pursue their first MHSAA championship in the sport with No. 4 DeWitt up next – FOX17

Girls Golf:

Traverse City West’s Anika Dy was named Miss Golf for the second time by the Michigan Interscholastic Golf Coaches Association – Traverse City Record-Eagle

 

Cross Country:

Coldwater’s Shuaib Aljabaly and Lansing Catholic’s Olivia Theis were named Mr. Cross Country and Miss Cross County, respectively, by the Michigan Interscholastic Track Coaches Association – Coldwater Daily Reporter

 

Hockey:

1. The first games of the season can be played today, and Petoskey is among teams anticipating a return to the ice – Petoskey News-Review

2. As part of its hockey preview, the Livingston Daily Press & Argus highlighted Mr. Hockey candidates Josh Albring of Hartland and Adam Conquest of Brighton – Livingston Daily Press & Argus

Girls Swimming & Diving:

1. Honorable mention Spring Lake will send 10 athletes to the Lower Peninsula Division 3 Finals, including three divers – Grand Haven Tribune

2. Hamilton standout Paige Kuhn is banking on a strong finish in the final meet of her high school career – Holland Sentinel

3. Gaylord sophomore Grace Wambier is a school record holder and hopes to add to her accomplishments at the Division 3 Finals – Gaylord Herald Times

4. No. 7 Brighton is aiming to claim the Division 1 team championship with arguably its strongest assemblage of experienced contenders under coach Jason Black – Livingston Daily Press & Argus

Game Recap

Clarenceville falls to Ladywood in the class B state quarterfinal match Tuesday night. The Trojans struggled on serve receive as the Blazers came out serving strong. Offensively, the Trojans were unable to find momentum and keep the game close. Notable standouts were Erica Bertera with 9 set assists and 4 digs, Michelle Marzolo with 6 kills, and Audrey Owens with 4 kills. It was a great year for the Trojans who finished the season with district and regional titles.

Game Recap

Clarenceville won the class B regional final in 3 sets. It was the first regional victory for the Trojans since 1997. Setter Erica Bertera had 19 assist-to-kills while Maddison Jaber chipped in with 7. Michelle Marzolo led the offense with 11 kills followed by Audrey Owens, Londen Green, and Krystal Jones who also added 6 kills each. Bertera was strong on defense with 8 digs followed by Marzolo and Cassidy Galvin who each added 6 digs a piece. Jaber and Allie Snage were strong on serve receive while Marzolo was solid at the service line adding 3 aces. The Trojans next face Ladywood in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

Game Recap

Clarenceville won a nail bitter in the first regional contest. In the first set, the Trojans capitalized with a final score of 33-31. The remaining sets were just as intense with the Trojans pulling away in the fourth set 25-20. Setter Erica Bertera had 20 set-assists with Maddison Jabber adding 6. Leading the offense was Audrey Owens with 16 kills followed by Michelle Marzolo who had 13, Londen Green finishing with 6, and Krystal Jones chipping in 4. Bertera went 23 for 23 on serves and Cassidy Galvin was also perfect going 18 for 18 with 2 aces. Mia Daniels also added 4 aces on the night. Daniels led the defense with 11 digs followed by Allie Snage who had 10 and Jabber finished with 8. It was a team victory for the Trojans who play in the regional final Thursday evening.

Game Recap

The Clarenceville Trojans defeated the Wolves of Cornerstone in 3 sets for the district championship Friday night. Senior Erica Bertera had 16 assist-to-kills and set up Londen Green for 6 kills followed by Cassidy Galvin and Michelle Marzolo who both added 4 kills. Marzolo also added 6 aces on the night while Ciera Galvin, Allison Lay and Shelby Smith were perfect at the service line. Allie Snage led the defense with 6 digs and Maddison Jaber was solid on serve receive. The Trojans are looking to extend their run in regionals starting next Tuesday.

Game Recap

In the district opener for Clarenceville, the Trojans dominated the court and won in 3 sets against the Mustangs of Mumford. Michelle Marzolo led the Trojans with 8 kills and 9 aces. Erica Bertera had 15 assist-to-kills and also set up Maddison Jaber for 6 kills. Jaber also played solid on serve receive and led the defense with 5 digs. The whole team contributed to the win for the Trojans as they move on to play in the district final Friday night.
