||The 8th grade basketball team lost a heartbreaker yesterday to a very good Ferndale M.S. team, who only has 1 loss all season. The Trojans found themselves down by 3 after the 1st quarter, but fought back to tie the game and then take a 4 point lead into half-time. Ferndale stormed out in the second half and with some pressure defense jumped out to a 9 point lead. Clarenceville would not quit though. Led by Cass Copeland, the Trojans figured out how to break through the Ferndale pressure and slowly cut into the lead. With about 40 seconds left in the game, Torrie Bowen made a lay-up that put the Trojans up 32 to 31. Ferndale came down the floor and in a mad scramble scored a basket and got fouled. The Ferndale player missed his free throw and with about 15 seconds left the Trojans came down and both Cass Copeland and Mike Young had two good shots that unfortunately rimmed out of the basket and Ferndale escaped with a 33 to 32 victory. The Trojans were led by Bowen who had a career high 9 points. Mike Young had 6 points, Christian Blakely had 5 points. Tyshaun Sendezera scored 4 points and Ty Lakner, Bobby Jaber,Zach Richards and Kam MacIver chipped in with 2 points each. Clarenceville also had great efforts from Jon Murphy, Ahmadi Manning, Justin Kelley, Sam Wakefield and Anthony Johnson. Great game boys. Keep working hard.
