TROJANS WALK OFF WARRIORS 4-3 IN 8 INNINGS IN FINAL GAME OF THE YEAR . The bats finally woke up in the 7th inning as the Trojans loaded the bases with 2 outs and 3 consecutive Hit By Pitches. Down 3-1 Senior Nick Shute stepped to the plate and tied the game with a base loaded double. Shute then went to the mound after Nick Bisaro could not go on in the 8th because of an injury and threw a scoreless 8th inning. In the bottom of the 8th with 1 out, Nick Snage walked, sophomore Zach Topolewski layed down a beautiful bunt, and the entire Lutheran Westland infield crashed the bunt and Snage went to third and Topolewski went to 2nd because no one was covering 2nd or 3rd. After an intentional walk and strikeout, Senior Demond Scrutchions laced a base hit to right and the Trojans came away with the victory to improve their overall record to 12-13. “It’s great to win your last one of the year in the regular season” said Head Coach Craig Cotter, “it gives you some momentum going into the MHSAA tournament which starts next Tuesday” Josh Touchette, Nick Bisaro and Nick Shute did great jobs on the mound only giving up 3 runs between them. It was Senior day, as the Trojans started all Seniors. Only Seniors Pitched and a Senior tied the game with a big 7th inning hit and a Senior won it with a walk off. “Great way for our Seniors to end the regular season” said Cotter. Next up for the Trojans will be a Pre-District matchup against cross town rivals Redford Union at home at 4:30 Tuesday May 29th.
