The 2019 spring soccer season kicked off on a cold night at Clarenceville High School, with the girls celebrating a win in their first match on their newly renovated home field.
Michelle Marzolo started her senior season off strong by scoring 3 impressive long range goals. Marzolo’s second scoring effort was a particularly well hit ball from 25 yards out that managed to find a home in the top right corner of the net.
Southfield Christian came back impressively in the second half, despite falling to a 3-0 halftime deficit. With 22 minutes remaining in the game, the visiting Eagles found the net to make things momentarily nerve racking for the home Trojans. 4 minutes later, the final of the 3 Michelle Marzolo goals closed the door.
Senior Alexandria Snage also started her season on the scoresheet after finishing a particularly well worked team effort midway through the first half.
Trojan defending was strong throughout the match, and the midfield found a few moments of well-connected passes.
Clarenceville will take the field again Saturday morning, where they are sure to find stiff competition in the John Glenn Soccer Invitational.
