On an extremely windy Friday night, a resilient Southfield Christian team traveled to McDowell field to challenge the Clarenceville Trojans. Southfield Christian worked extremely hard and was aided by an outstanding effort from their goalkeeper, who saved 21 shots on the night. The teams went back and forth, with Clarenceville finding the majority of possession, but Southfield Christian still generated enough possession to force 6 saves out of Allison Lay in net.
The first half passed without any goals, and it took until midway through the second half for Clarenceville to finally break through. Freshman Alyssa Krazel struck a well placed left footed shot in the upper right corner of the net. The timely strike was Krazel’s first goal of her high school career.
The Trojans received extremely strong play from all of their defenders, including Jordan Lay and Ciera Galvin, who played the entire match on the back line. Monica Gonzalez and Gina Marzolo played especially strong second halves in the center midfield.
Clarenceville (5-4) will welcome Redford Union for a conference match at 7pm Monday.
