In the inaugural game at the new turf complex at David B. McDowell stadium, the JV Trojans earned a 1-1 draw over division rival Crestwood.
Clarenceville came out strong in the first half, and had many excellent moments of decision making in the midfield.
Midway through the first half it was Junior Tinh Tran who finished a Chris Sanchez corner for his first goal of the season and the first ever goal on the Trojans’ new turf.
Early in the second half, Mo al Bawadi broke through the left side of the Crestwood defense and had his attempt barely miss as it hit the post. Shortly afterwards Clarenceville junior forward Arjan Reckovic went out with a hip injury, leaving the Trojans with just 1 substitute.
Momentum began to shift in the Crestwood direction, and midway through the second half the Chargers scored on an impressive strike from just outside the box.
Clarenceville was able to hold on for the draw through the relentless effort and defending of Gavin and Alec Mitchell in front of Antonio Iuliano, who made 7 saves on the night.
The boys will host Robichaud on Friday at 5:30.
