The Trojans played their final home game of the season and in doing so were able to secure a tight victory over Robichaud High School.
It was a long week of soccer for many of Clarenceville’s players, and fatigue seemed to be a factor against the Bulldogs, who had plenty of speed up top.
The first half passed without any goals, though Trojan goalkeeper Antonio Iuliano was forced to make a save on a Robichaud player who broke through the defense and had a 1v1 opportunity on goal. Clarenceville saw the majority of passes and possession in the first half, but we’re unable to capitalize.
As the second half began, the Trojans committed more to the attack, and were able to put considerably more pressure on the Robichaud defense.
With about 17 minutes remaining in the half, a Robichaud player received a red card for using his hand to save a shot that was going into the net.
The resulting penalty kick was converted by Ervin Andelija for the games only goal.
Clarenceville had several more chances, but we’re unable to find the net with a man advantage, and in the end had to depend on stellar defending from Gavin Mitchell, Del Holbrook, Alec Mitchell and Jacob Garcia to keep the victory in tact.
