Early in the second half, a phenomenal individual effort from Miles Katchorek was the difference in a hard fought and physical match between Clarenceville and Detroit Country Day.
After a Country Day goal kick was played short to the outside, Katchorek pressured the defender, won the ball back and snuck a shot past the goalkeeper’s near post. A short handed Trojan side played most of the match without captain Patrick Mahoney and played with true resilience to hold onto the lead for the final minutes of the match.
Arjan Reckovic got the Trojans on the board first after Tinashe Nkhuwa sent him through. The goal, Reckovic’s second of the season put Clarenceville ahead until an equaliser from Country Day with 4 minutes remaining in the half leveled the score.
Chris Sanchez and Gavin Mitchell were extremely impressive defensively for a Clarenceville team who benefited from maximum effort and contribution from every player.
The Trojans have won 2 games in a row, but will face a tough test on Monday when they travel to Crestwood for the first of 2 matchups with the divisional opponent.
