Three wind assisted free kicks from distance found their way into the net for Plymouth Christian Friday night and this helped propel them to a 4-1 victory over Clarenceville.
The Trojans took the lead after a scoreless first half when Erun Sanchez converted a penalty with 28 minutes remaining in the match.
In the ensuing 20 minutes, Clarenceville paid the price for committing fouls in their defensive third as Plymouth Christian scored directly off three free kicks placed just out of reach of Trojan goalkeeper Gina Marzolo, who played an outstanding game overall.
The result was especially cruel to the Trojan defenders, who all played extremely well. Ciera Galvin, Kyara Burch, Jordan Lay, Rahma Mfinanga, and Monica Gonzalez were extremely difficult for PCA to score on from regular play.
The Trojans have their conference opener at home on Wednesday night as Crestwood High School visits the turf at Shaw Stadium.
