In a back-and-forth match with MIAC Red foe Lutheran Westland, Clarenceville had just enough to pull off the 2-1 victory, securing their school-record tying 13th victory of the season. The Trojans jumped out to a 1-0 lead with some fancy footwork and a beautiful cross by Mo Al-Badawi to Aaron Kluesner, who connected for his 16th goal of the season. That lead didn’t last long as LW scored the equalizer on a solid transition goal.
The 2nd half was highly competitive, with Chase Kluesner and LW’s GK making several key saves. As the game entered the last 15 minutes, the Trojan offense came on, with several near misses on huge opportunities. Clarenceville finally broke the tie when Brendan Mahoney made a strong move to the corner and centered the ball to a charging Erv Andelija who back-heeled it into the net for the game winner.
The Trojans (13-4-5, 6-1-3) ended their regular season tied for the most wins in school history with 13. They’ll look to break the school record next Monday 10/14 in the semis of Districts vs the winner of DATA/Detroit Frontier. The game will be at Shaw Stadium at 7:00. Come cheer on the boys as they attempt to make history and advance to the District Finals.
